Crazy Man's Basement began in 1999 as an opportunity for two friends, and fellow high school teachers, to spend their free time writing, playing and recording live music together in the basement of their high school. "Real. Roots. Rock." was born in the form of an acoustic guitar and vocal duo.
With the addition of bass and drums in 2002, Crazy Man's Basement soon developed into a highly successful and popular rock quartet featuring both acoustic and electric styles and quickly gaining notoriety in and around Milwaukee, WI and on the internet. CMB's first single, "Everything," received airplay on area radio stations and three songs from their debut release, "There and Back", have topped the indie charts nationally at both Cornerband.com and Garageband.com.
The band went on to win the WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) Award for CD/Recording of the Year and received a nomination for Pop/Adult Group of the Year following their New Artist of the Year nomination a year earlier.
Good things continue to happen for CMB, including live television and radio appearances, significant print media coverage and more WAMI recognition - a second consecutive nomination for Pop/Adult Artist of the Year and a recent WAMI award for Best Artist Website.
Headlining 100s of festival, college and club shows for almost 10 years, CMB has become known throughout Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago for performing high energy, interactive sets of their own original songs and select covers of influential bands such as Coldplay, The Fray, U2 and the Dave Matthews Band for its constantly growing legion of loyal fans.
